The study is on the use of Automated Unit Test Generation tools during software development. In particular, we are targeting Java programming. The experiment consists on a think-aloud session, in which you are asked to write a Java class for which a specification is given, and write unit tests for it, with the aim of achieving highest possible coverage and supported by the use of a test generation tool.
A think-aloud session requires the participant to verbalise their thoughts as they progress on the task. That is, the subject is asked to speak up what they are doing, why they are doing so, what they are thinking on, etc.
We require participants with professional experience on Java programming and Unit Testing. A brief tutorial session will be offered prior to the study. The experiment would ideally take place in the Department of Computer Science of the University of Sheffield on a suitable date and time in August. It would take between one hour and two. Alternatively, I could visit you in your workplace should that be more convenient.
Should you be interested in participating or knowing more before making a decision, please contact me by email and I can provide further details.
Update: Thanks for your interest, but we have recruited enough participants for the moment.
